# What does Redis do?

Redis is an in-memory data structure store used as a database, cache, and message broker. In Chevereto, Redis handles caching of application data and session storage, significantly improving performance by reducing database queries.

# Application cache

# Session storage

# Fine-tuning

Redis stores frequently accessed data for quick retrieval, reducing database load. You can set cache expiration to keep data fresh and minimize stale cache.

Use CHEVERETO_MAX_CACHE_TTL to set the maximum time to live (TTL) for cached items. Set to 0 to disable TTL (perpetual cache).
